Highland, San Bernardino County
The oldest part of Highland grew up in the 1890s around citrus packing houses along the Santa Fe tracks, and several blocks of homes and shops from that period are preserved as a historic district. Orange groves once covered the slope down to the Santa Ana River. Much of the city today was built after 1980, when the groves were sold for housing.
